Kingwood Township can now claim fame to a gourmet market that rivals big city offerings. Due to it's warm, rustic country setting and being surrounded by grazing Highland cattle, the name HIGHLAND GOURMET became apparent.
Ben and Dee Avila, owners of the Forge and Anvil Inn restaurant found that the patrons were always interested in procuring many of the ingredients used to create menu favorites. Thus the concept of a retail market evolved. They began selling steaks, sauces, soups and such to go home for enjoyment. The Highland beef became very popular. Two years ago, post 3 years of planning and construction; the Highland Gourmet Market became a reality.
Highland Company offers all natural fresh cut beef, pork and poultry.
Baked goods are made from scratch on premises. A full service deli featuring Boar's Head meats and cheeses, delicious prepared foods, a coffee bar with fresh ground and whole roasted coffee beans to take home are some of the first sights and smells experienced as you enter!
The produce section is both well stocked and attended with local emphasis at every opportunity. Maple syrup, honey, fresh eggs and Highland beef are all products of Kingwood agriculture.
If you venture further you'll discover a great selection of imported cheeses, organic foods and milk. There is also a section of unique gifts and local artisan crafts.
